This
Winter the Scarborough Cross Country Ski Club has scheduled a full winter
of Nordic Skiing Activity for its members this year. There will be 12 buses
to various locations in Southern Ontario. The cost of the Bus is $20.00 and
the Trail Fee is extra. All our buses are in luxury highway coaches from our
fine bus supplier, Coach Canada.
Our buses leave at 8:00 AM sharp from Scarborough Centennial arena
on Ellesmere and we are usually back by 5:30PM. Our bus program has
been in operation since 1985. We are also scheduling a pickup at the
Kiss and Ride at the Leslie Sheppard subway for 8:15.
Our ski buses go to where there is snow (even when there is none in Toronto).
We often change the destination of our ski bus to find the best snow.
Do not assume there is no skiing because your lawn is still green. The area
around Barrie and westward attracts a lot more snow than Toronto does. We
are very successful at finding good skiing within driving range.
While we try to follow our schedule, conditions in central Ontario require
a very flexible approach. We try to balance our trips to various locations
and visit all of the trails during the season. Also because conditions change
rapidly a decision as to destination may not be made until the day of the
trip. Do not be disappointed or surprised if the bus doesn't go where it was
scheduled.
We only cancel a bus if there is no safe skiing. Registration
for bus trips is by mail only. The cost is $20 by cheque dated the
day of the bus. All buses leave Centennial Recreation Centre, 1967 Ellesmere
Road in Scarborough at 8 a.m. sharp and the Leslie Sheppard subway at 8:15.
Tentative destinations and dates of the buses are in the Schedule
Taking a bus
means that you don't have to worry about unsafe driving conditions on the
400. One small accident on the icy roads will easily wipe out 10 years of
savings when you take your own vehicle. We are usually home by 5:30 in time
for dinner
